Sliding Window Card Featuring Hello Bluebird Stamps and Sunny Studios Dies

I’ve been away on holiday and have come back with some new crafty goodies - mostly in the form of Distress Oxide inks and some Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.

I also got a few new stamps and dies, including the Sunny Studio ‘Sliding Window’ die. I have had an idea in my head to use the ‘Fishin’ Hole’ stamp set from Hello Bluebird with the sliding window die to create a cute little lake/pond scene.

I took some Bristol Smooth cardstock and stamped the boat, boy, duck, rock, some reeds and dragonflies using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I coloured them using my new Zig markers. I didn’t use any water, just blended the markers together to create shading. I took another panel of Bristol cardstock measuring 4, 1/4” by 5,1/2” and used my distress oxide inks to create a background, then cut the sliding window from the centre of this panel. I arranged my die cut images on top, to create the scene and attached a slider mechanism to the back.

Finally, I cut another panel just slightly smaller than the front and stamped some fish images and the fishing line, from the stamp set. I masked these and used the same coloured distress oxides to create the water. I coloured the fish and attached the panel to the back of my card front, being careful not to apply adhesive to the slider mechanism.

I attached the whole thing to a top folding card base using foam tape, to make it easy to pull the slider.
Whilst, this card didn’t turn out exactly as planned, I’m pretty pleased with the results and I’m always happy to have a more ‘masculine’ card in my stash.

Comic strip card featuring Hello Bluebird

Hello! Today, I’m sharing a card using some gorgeous Hello Bluebird stamps. I have been admiring this company’s products for a while, and when I discovered they ship internationally for a flat rate of $8 USD, I couldn’t resist buying some things. The shipping was fast and the stamps and dies are great quality - I highly recommend Hello Bluebird.

For this card I started by stamping the images on Crafters Companion Neenah Classic Crest cardstock with Momento Tuxedo black ink. I coloured them using a mixture of Copic markers and Spectrum Noir markers, then trimmed them out using the coordinating dies. I don’t always buy matching dies, but some of these images are quite intricate, so I decided to get them this time. I also cut two of Lawn Fawn’s  Peekaboo Backdrop frames from plain white cardstock and layered them together.

I used Distress Inks to ink blend the panel at the back of the scene, using my favourite combination of inks for a sunset/sunrise sky - fossilized amber, abandoned coral and seedless preserves. I then lay out the images where I wanted them, using the frame as a guide, and adhered them using glue. I added the frame, then heat embossed a white sentiment on black cardstock and added it to the front.

I attached the completed panel to a card made from Lawn Fawn sunflower cardstock, and finally continued the sentiment inside and added the cute little lion I had coloured and die cut, but not used on the front.

I hope you enjoy this card. I really had fun making it and I’m looking forward to using more of my Hello Bluebird stamp sets soon.

Inside pop-up card using Hello Bluebird stamps

Today I decided to try making an inside pop-up card for the first time, using my cute Hello Bluebird ‘Moose and Friends’ stamp set. I selected the images I wanted and coloured them using mostly copic markers and a few spectrum noir markers for the badgers.

I actually ended up colouring the other skunk as well.

I created a sky panel from a stitched rectangle and a grass panel, using my MFT grassy hillside dienamics. I coloured these using distress inks - peacock feathers and salty ocean for the sky and mowed lawn for the grass. I sprayed them with a little water to add some texture.

I attached the sky panel to the inside flap of the card, then attached the grass panel using some card strips that I formed into squares to create the ‘pop-up’ mechanism.

I attached my coloured images to the grass to make my scene and stamped a sentiment in the upper left corner.

Finally, I used the ‘hooray’ ballon stamp and one of the skunks, to decorate the front of the card. I attached these to an MFT stitched mini scallop rectangle stax panel I had cut from Lawn Fawn ‘Gotta have Gingham’ paper. I added some stings for the ballons using black pen.

I hope you enjoy this card - I’ll be making more pop-up cards in the future.

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge 44 - Happy Little Critters

Hi everyone. Today I made a card as an entry to the Lawn Fawnatics challenge. This time the theme is ‘Happy Little Critters’, so I decided it was the perfect time to use a stamp set I’ve had for a while, but not used much. I chose ‘Flamingo Together’ combined with the palm tree from ‘Life is Good’, to make a Valentines shaker card.

I stamped the images in Memento ‘tuxedo black’ ink, onto Neenah Classic Crest card, and coloured them using my Spectrum Noir markers. I fussy cut the flamingos and used the coordinating die on the palm trees. I then took a piece of Bristol smooth cardstock and cut a stitched rectangle panel, slightly smaller than a regular sized card base.

I used a combination of Distress Ink and Lawn Fawn ink to colour the panel, masking off the sand and sea and using the MFT Sun Ray stencil on the upper portion. I then used the heart die from Lawn Fawns Magic Color Slider dies to cut the heart shape from the panel.

Finally, I adhered the images to the panel and added a piece of clear acetate to the back of the heart, secured with strong, double sided adhesive. I used some Neat and Tangled sequins for the shaker element and attached the card front to the base using foam adhesive.
I hope you enjoy!

Hello Bluebird and Lawn Fawn - pop-up box card

I love combining stamp sets to create a new look and when I saw the gorgeous ‘North Star’ set from Hello Bluebird, I knew I wanted to use it for more than just Happy New Year cards. After delving into my stamps, I came up with this Lawn Fawn ‘Plane and Simple’ set, which I thought would work perfectly with the critters gazing skyward.

I stamped the images I wanted, onto Neenah Classic Crest cardstock and coloured them with a combination of Spectrum Noir and Copic alcohol markers. I then fussy cut them out, leaving a thin white ‘halo’ around the edge.

I cut a Scalloped Pop-up Box card from Lawn Fawn Mermaid cardstock using the Lawn Fawn die. I die cut the front, side and back panels, along with the grassy borders, from Bristol smooth card stock and used ‘Mowed Lawn’ and ‘Salty Ocean’ distress inks to colour them. I added drops of water, which I blotted with paper towel, to create some interest.  I stamped the sentiment in Lawn Fawn ‘Blue Jay’ ink.
Finally, I assembled the card and added the coloured images to create my scene.
